Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent and shrewd in their own sight! —Isaiah 5:20, 21POSTMODERNISM fits well with the description in Isaiah 5. Postmoderns believe there is no absolute truth; truth is left for an individual or a group of individuals to decide. Relativism, the belief that truth is relative to the situation at hand, is applied by postmoderns to everything including issues of right and wrong. Sounds very familiar to what the apostle Paul forecast for the end times: “Some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach, through the hypocrisy and pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared cauterized” 1 Timothy 4:1, 2. When the conscience, the faculty of the human spirit given to judge right and wrong, is seared, darkness reigns in the soul. Wrong will proudly be declared as right; immorality will be twisted into declarations of morality, and sin will be declared to be the healthy norm. Hold boldly to the truth of God’s Word for it alone will save you.
